We like what they do: Jigsaw Academy, Platform 5 & Impact Enterprises
Jigsaw Academy is a Bangalore-based online analytics and big data training provider. The academy hosts a group of data scientists and educators who are on a mission to train the next generation of analytics practitioners in India. As a niche school, they are able to build skills that can be put to immediate use in the workplace. According this year’s World Economic Forum Employment, Skills and Human Capital Global Challenge Insight Report, today’s most in-demand occupations or specialties did not exist 10 or even five years ago, and the pace of change is set to accelerate. Given the leapfrogging that the world is witnessing in many emerging markets, we like companies that are preparing young professionals for new and emerging roles. Across practically all industries and geographies, data analysis ranks as one of the top roles companies will need to help them make sense and derive insights from the big data generated by the technological disruptions.
Ho Chi Minh City
Though Vietnam is known in the tech industry as a country from which to source high-skill tech labour at a low cost, companies entering Vietnam struggle to assemble the right teams. ‘Recent graduates in the tech sector have an understanding of theory, but lack practical experience and soft-skills’, says Martial Ganière, Creative Director and Founder of Platform5. Operating out of the Start Saigon Co-working Space, his company offers a web development training programme for recent graduates, giving participants hands on projects, interpersonal skills in the workplace, a product development mindset, and experience in a professional environment. Trainees are connected to employers through Platform5’s outsourcing service. So far, Platform5 has helped a Singaporean company build a web development team in Ho Chi Minh City. Platform5 is currently expanding their programme to offer greater outsourcing and up-skilling packages.
